Rod’s Kitchens at Meadowbrook was established in 1979, and decades later, father and son team Rod, Beau, Tyler and Corey Anderson can continue with their plans for the business.

A COVID-19 Jobs Support Loan will allow 17 people to remain part of the business and cover carry-on expenses while the domestic construction market is impacted from COVID-19.

The loan scheme administered by the Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA), provides finance of up to $250,000 for businesses and non-profit organisations impacted by COVID-19 to assist with carry-on expenses such as employee wages, rent and rates and other expenditure.

Corey said the business was well-placed in the custom kitchen industry with up to 10 kitchens a week leaving the production line, destine for family homes across the state.

“It means we are large enough to enjoy bulk buying privileges but small enough to offer old fashion personal service through honesty, integrity and a strong desire to please our customers,” he said.

“We have more than 20,000 kitchens under our belt and we know how to get the best results.”

He said while COVID-19 brought a downturn in the industry, it presented an opportunity for the business to focus on what’s important.

He said the COVID-19 Jobs Support Loan allowed them the confidence to continue moving forward whilst retaining their staff.

“It was a relief when we did get approved because it gave us reassurance that we could rely on that to keep the doors open, pay rent and electricity,” he said.
