2 May 2018

John Metelli has been appointed as the new Regional Area Manager for the Capricornia region, based in QRIDA’s office in Rockhampton.

The Queensland Rural and Industry Development Authority (QRIDA) is pleased to announce that John Metelli has been appointed as the new Regional Area Manager for the Capricornia region, based in QRIDA’s office in Rockhampton.

John has worked in the rural finance industry for 25 years in areas including Emerald, Moura and Gladstone.

Now, he is making the move from Longreach to Rockhampton to assist in providing financial and advisory support to primary producers and industry in Central Queensland.

“I enjoy building relationships, helping clients and developing potential in their business which is what a large majority of this role involves,” he said.

While Rockhampton is primarily known for its beef industry, John is also looking forward to meeting producers throughout Capricornia across all rural industries.

“Rocky is very heavily beef based but there are a host of dynamic industries operating throughout my region, so it will be a great opportunity for me to demonstrate how QRIDA loans and grants can benefit them,” he said.

In between his time working in banking, John was also a business owner with his wife who ran a hotel and restaurant.

“When you’re in your own business you must make decisions and live by them, so I can empathise with my clients because I know what it’s like to be on the other side of the table,” John said.

QRIDA Chief Executive Officer, Cameron MacMillan, welcomed John to the team.

“John will be a great asset with his extensive experience working in rural finance and small business and I look forward to him assisting our existing and potential new clients across the Capricornia region,” Mr MacMillan said.

John will be debuting in his new role at Beef Australia 2018 (6-12 May) at the QRIDA stand in the Queensland Government’s sustainable beef display in the Sidney Kidman Pavilion, to meet locals and chat how he can assist them with QRIDA’s low interest loans and grants.
