Farm Debt Services

Farm Debt Services provides access to a suite of programs designed to assist and support primary producers experiencing financial difficulty. It includes the Farm Debt Restructure Office which administers the Farm Business Analysis Assistance program. This program provides free, independent professional assistance to help producers make informed business decisions concerning the future of their primary production enterprise. Also available is the Farm Business Debt Mediation program, a structured process that provides an efficient and equitable way for farmers and banks to attempt to resolve matters relating to farm business debts.

Farm Debt Restructure Office

The Farm Debt Restructure Office (FDRO) administers the Farm Business Analysis Assistance program. This program is a free no obligation service, designed to assist primary producers experiencing financial difficulties to get back on track with their finances.

Farm Business Debt Mediation

As of 1 July 2017 the Farm Business Debt Mediation Act 2017 (Qld) (the Act) replaces the voluntary mediation scheme that was part of the Queensland Farm Finance Strategy. The purpose of the Act is to provide an efficient and equitable way for farmers and mortgagees to attempt to resolve matters relating to farm business debts. Mediation is required before mortgagees can take possession of a property or other enforcement action under a farm mortgage.
