Natural Disaster Assistance Essential Working Capital - Small Business

Small businesses which have suffered a significant loss of income as a result of an eligible disaster (such as through loss of electricity, water or road access for extended periods) may be eligible for low interest loans up to $100,000.

What assistance is available?

A low interest loan up to $100,000 can assist you with essential working capital for expenses such as:

  • paying salaries or wages
  • paying creditors
  • paying rent or rates
  • buying goods, including for example, fuel essential to carry on the small business

  • The initial annual interest rate is 1.32% for loans under the Severe Tropical Cyclone Nora and Associated Flooding, 24 – 29 March 2018 event.
  • The initial annual interest rate is 1.32% for loans under the North Queensland Flooding, 6 – 10 March 2018 event.
  • The initial annual interest rate is 1.16% for loans under the Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie and associated rainfall and flooding, 28 March - 6 April 2017 event.
Maximum term
  • Up to 7 years
Repayments
  • If needed, up to 2 years interest only may be available
Security
  • Security to QRIDA's satisfaction will be required for the loan - QRIDA will discuss this with you

Who is eligible to apply?

To be eligible for assistance, you must have suffered a significant loss of income as a result of an eligible disaster and your business must be located in an activated local government area.

Please note that small businesses can only receive assistance under the Natural Disaster Assistance Scheme OR the Natural Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) Scheme for an eligible disaster - not both.

The Minister for Fire and Emergency Services announced on 11 April 2018 that Natural Disaster Assistance (Essential Working Capital) loans are now available for small businesses affected by Severe Tropical Cyclone Nora and Associated Flooding, 24 – 29 March 2018.

To apply for assistance for loss of income caused by Severe Tropical Cyclone Nora and Associated Flooding, 24 – 29 March 2018 you must be located in one of the following local government areas:

To apply for assistance for loss of income caused by Severe Tropical Cyclone Debbie and associated rainfall and flooding, you must be located in one of the following local government areas:
